Nebula the Velvet Queen is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program on a mission from the Andromeda Galaxy to heal the world.

Situated in Brooklyn, New York, Nebula plays the Theremin, an instrument that is played without physical touch.

She is a poet and writer, improviser, music producer, community organizer & activist.

THE SECRET

Astrophysicist Carl Sagan once described "the look back effect," a phenomenon where, upon leaving Earth, astronauts experience a profound awakening as they gaze back at the pale blue dot.

After observing the absence of physical borders on Earth, they see first-hand, the delicate threads that connect us all. The space traveler returns with a renewed sense of purpose; to love humanity and safeguard Mother Earth. It is this powerful awakening that Nebula aspires to evoke through her art.

THE THEREMIN

The Theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical touch. Nebula calls it her “cosmic connection” to the universe. Hand movements near its two antennas produce ethereal sounds, creating music through the manipulation of electromagnetic fields. The energy/soul of the player also interacts with the field. The Theremin sits at the intersection of science and spirituality.

THE SPACEMEN

Nebula is part of a five piece ambient cosmic jazz band called The Spaceman, led by saxophonist Ayumi Ishito.

Vol 1. was featured on BBC Radio 3’s Freeness program, the New York City Jazz Review and named Best Jazz of 2021 on Bandcamp.

Vol.2 is OUT NOW on indie Brooklyn record label 577 Records. The band is planning to record again in 2024 and will be playing shows throughout the year.

eüsh COLLABORATION

Nebula recently collaborated with Sydney-born singer songwriter extraordinaire eüsh to turn one of her cosmic love poems (Voice of God From The Machine) into song.

eüsh is a cosmic soul who crafts “baroque-pop, experimental-rock, alt-country, mysterious-sea-shanty's.”
